"New Beginnings is a conversation with myself where I was debating whether or not I should leave the relationship I was in at the time. I knew that my friends and family didn’t support the relationship and for good reasons but I had hope because of those few special moments we had.
Once I realized my worth, I decided that I was better off starting fresh and leaving that negativity behind me. But I also hated the saying of starting over and undoing the past.
Instead I decided to go with new beginnings. Not undoing the past but starting fresh with what I learnt from that relationship. These relationships hurt me but they also helped me learn how to value myself as a person and truly understand that I deserve better."
About Alicia
Alicia Kayley is a Pop R&B singer-songwriter with powerful and warm vocals from the Algonquin and Tahltan Nation residing in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She proudly holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Carleton University specializing in Classical voice and popular style songwriting.
Her most notable performances include singing on Parliament Hill for the Canada Day’s 150th main stage event and the Site Selection Ceremony for the Residential Schools National Monument. Alicia provided powerful performances at the Indigenous Day Festival in Whitehorse Yukon in 2024 and Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week.
Alicia is taking the next step toward her music career by creating her debut album alongside Crystal Shawanda’s label ‘New Sun Music’ based in Nashville. As a young Indigenous musician, Alicia plans to provide Anishinabe people with a voice in mainstream music.
